In Hellfire, two new characters were added into the mix when "command.txt" was enabled. The line "bardtest" brought about the existence of the Bard, while the patch and a line saying "barbariantest" brought the Barbarian into being. Although these two are not really a part of the Diablo story, they are two totally different and unique characters, that have radically different abilities than their four predecessors.
The Barbarian uses the Warrior graphics for its appearance, and the main difference that one may notice is that this character's Magic is already maxxed out -- at zero! Yes, this character is not for the magic-user, so it is virtually impossible for him to even learn high-end spells through spellbooks. But his other capabilities more than make up for his lack of mystic intelligence.
The Barbarian has a built in fast attack/fast hit recovery component, especially when using an axe. He also possesses "sweep" damage, with either an axe or a sword (without a shield). He can use a maul or two-handed sword in one hand, and with every level he gains, his resistance to fire, lightning and magic also increases by 1%.
SPECIAL SKILL: RAGE This skill, when used, lets the Barbarian enter a total berserk state. All stats will increase for a short time, and all hit recoveries are at full. However, after the skill wears off, the Barbarian is left drained and almost at the brink of death, unless one of his items are removed and placed back, in order for his Hit Points to be restored.
