We don’t need martyrs… we need heroes…

From The West Wing, Season 3, Episode 1 (Isaac and Ishmael), as said by President Bartlett…

We don’t need martyrs right now. We need heroes. A hero would die for his country, but he’d much rather live for it…

When the gods wish to punish us…

From The West Wing, Season 3, Episode 13 (The Two Bartlets), as said by Toby  Ziegler…

“Quando dio, ole castigarci ci manda, quello che desideriamo.”
When the gods wish to punish us, they answer our prayers.

A first look at the new “V” remake…

Alright, so I finally got to watch one of the most highly anticipated new shows this season – the remake of the “V” series from the 1980s.  I must say, I would’ve had major reservations about this show if not for the superb execution done with the remake of Battlestar Galactica on SciFi.  So I’m expecting the creators of this new show to follow that example and try their best to make sure it is different from the original yet keeping the essence of it.

"V" - The Remake

"V" - The Remake

So what did I think of it?  Honestly, it’s still too early to tell, as the first episode pretty much just laid the groundwork for the series and introduced all the major characters.  But it wasn’t bad at all.

The Book of Job Redux: A chilling quote from President Bartlett in The West Wing…

From The West Wing, Season 2, Episode 22 (Two Cathedrals), as said by President Bartlett while he’s walking to the altar, alone, inside the empty cathedral during the funeral… he was speaking to God…

Southpark, World of Warcraft, and the return of a bad habit…

Random shit that I think about as I sit here at the office waiting for something to happen…

I would have to say that this recent episode of Southpark’s 10th season was one of the best and funniest episodes I’ve ever watched… well, not mainly coz of the sick humor, but rather due to the subject matter they tackled – which was the wildly popular MMORPG World of Warcraft.

Battlestar Galactica on Sci Fi

For those who don’t know, they’re gonna show the “new” Battlestar Galactica on Sci Fi channel on Monday. It’s gonna be a four-hour miniseries and is considered a “re-imagining” of Galactica rather than a sequel or a revival.

To be honest, I have a bad feeling about how this version is gonna pan out. First of all, they changed almost the entire plotline, and the only thing they retained, aside from show’s title, are the names of the characters. There is no “rag tag fleet” here, nor is there a quest to go to “that shining planet known as Earth” …

God, I love this series.

I have known about this TV series for a long time yet I never considered it seriously… I was thinking, “how could a series where each episode constitutes an hour in a person’s life be interesting?” Boy, was I wrong.

You will believe a man can fly…

This was the promotion slogan for Superman when it was first shown in theaters in 1978…

I was listening to the DVD commentary of Superman (again), while I was working on updating the layout of the photo gallery, and I can’t help but be fairly impressed with the amount of work and dedication that went into the production of the film. Notwithstanding the conflicts that permeated the film althroughout its production, the films still stands today as one of the best super hero movies ever produced.

The opening fanfare by John Williams still gives me goosebumps, and remains one of my favorite movie themes of all time (just behind Star Wars). I recommend that you rent (or buy) the Superman DVD just for the documentaries and the enjoyable commentary (never mind the hackneyed sequels, the first one is still the best one).
