We don’t need martyrs… we need heroes…

From The West Wing, Season 3, Episode 1 (Isaac and Ishmael), as said by President Bartlett…

* * * * *

We don’t need martyrs right now. We need heroes. A hero would die for his country, but he’d much rather live for it…

The Classic Retirement Syndrome

I recently heard this story again and it made me laugh, not just because it’s funny, but because I have experienced this more times than I can count. You don’t have to be old and gray to experience this – and I’m sure many of you have :)

Why Rocks Rule, Paper Can’t Do Shit, and Scissors are Meh

Saw this on the Internet and I decided to type it here instead of just posting a picture… coz I’m cool that way…

* * * * *

I understand that scissors can beat paper, and I get how rock can beat scissors. But there’s no way paper can beat rock.

The Little Cow (A Parable)

Heard this little story at a convention I attended that I’m pretty sure many of us can probably relate to…

* * * * *

A master of Wisdom was walking through the countryside with his apprentice when they came to a small, disheveled shack on a meager piece of farmland.

“See this poor family,” said the Master. “Go see if they will share with us their food.”

“But we have plenty,” said the apprentice.

The master said, “Do as I say.” The obedient apprentice went to the home. The good farmer and his wife, surrounded by their seven children, came to the door. Their clothes were dirty and in tatters.

Gems from Star Trek TNG III…

I am now on Star Trek: The Next Generation Season 5, and I have to say that this is the best written season, so far. The episodes are very well written, and the themes are very inspiring. Darmok is one episode that lingers, and The Unification is a nostalgic trip – with Spock making his first (and probably only) appearance in TNG. This exchange between him and Data deserves to be my best quote in Star Trek so far ;)

Gems from Star Trek TNG II…

Another Star Trek: The Next Generation (3rd Season) DVD night for me, and another good exchange between Picard and Data. In the episode entitled “The High Ground”, they are discussing the terrorist activities in a planet wherein some of their crew have been thrown in the middle:
