My thoughts on Dubya’s State of the Union address…

George W. Bush’s State of the Union address tonight may have convinced some people that the United States needs to take matters in its own hands if the need arises. It may have affirmed some people’s sentiments that Saddam Hussein is the devil incarnate and must be overthrown from his lofty perch by all means necessary. Maybe his speech has changed the minds of several contingents who are against the “planned war” from the beginning,

But I still need a lot of convincing.

Granted, I never voted for Bush. He was never my choice for president, because of his shortsighted plans and apparent lack of experience and savvy when it comes to international relations. And this cannot be more evident than his apparent treatment of the United Nations. We have a president who is pushing, pressuring and dogging an international organization (whose sole purpose of existence is to promote peace) to help him wage war! And it’s not even the most justified war, at that. All we have right now are rumors and hearsay – much of which will either be debunked or proven next week, when Powell goes to the UN to present the allegedly incontrovertible evidence that proves Saddam stinks worse than camel manure.

George W. Bush’s whole reputation as US president is only marked by this war. He has not been concentrating on anything else but this war. This war is his ticket to a second term. I mean, I don’t get it … his 10-year economic plan sounds more and more like a plea to the American people to re-elect him, and gives him an alibi when the economy continues its downward spiral in the event that he does not get re-elected…

I mean, let’s admit it … he doesn’t give a flying fuck about the US economy. It wasn’t his priority to begin with. Even before the events of September 11, the economy has been going down way before that, so the alibi that 9/11 was the start of economic demise is just a Republican fairtytale. Everytime we see or hear Bush, it’s always about Saddam. About Iraq. About war. The cowboy from Texas wants some action, and he wants to see some explosions.

Cowboys belong in horse shows, not in the White House..

Splurging… and a booger story…

Just got back from my brother’s “double-feature” opera tonight (that means two different operas/plays in one night, back to back). As usual, he kicked ass. Might be because he got all the goofy, scene-stealing roles, hehe… Good job.

Anyway, my week hasn’t been as bad as I thought it would be. Cash flow is stabilizing (meaning I’m working daily now, as opposed to three times a week last December), and I’m finally getting caught up in all my pending stuff.

I also got to splurge again. I went ahead and purchased the last two remaining Star Trek TNG seasons (6 & 7), as well as three CDs: Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec (Final Fantasy VIII), Final Fantasy VII Reunion Tracks, and Final Fantasy S Generation. Actually it started with me trying to download the orchestrated version of One Winged Angel from FFVII, but I gave up looking for a good quality track and decided to just purchase the damn CD where it came from – and while I was browsing, I kinda dragged two other Final Fantasy CDs along the way. Hey, at least it’s quality music ;)

Funny (and kinda gross) story from last night … as I was walking home from Albertson’s, I had this irritating stuff (wet boogers, probably) in my nose and I was trying to blow it out by snorting (too lazy to use my hands, y’see), I tried without success for a couple of minutes, and just as I passed a dark area in the sidewalk, I was leaning down to see where I was walking, still snorting. And it suddenly came out – the wet booger, I mean – and since I was leaning down, I had the sudden realization that it might be sticking on my shirt. So here I was, walking towards our apartment, feeling myself at the front like a pervert gone insane (coz, well, it was dark, and I can’t see shit).

The good news was, the booger wasn’t on my shirt. The bad news was, a nice-looking lady saw me “feeling myself up” as I opened the apartment gate…

Obsession with DVD commentaries…

Hmmm, seems I’ve developed a habit of listening to DVD commentaries while I work on the computer … The past three days, I have watched (or rather listened) to DVD commentaries for The Godfather Trilogy, The Thing, Star Wars Episode I and II, Stargate and even the lackluster Dungeons and Dragons. Now I’m considering buying some literature audiobooks to listen to at work and maybe on my trip back home … maybe even at the gym!

Tech site updates…

You got here coz you followed the link from Open Tech Support? Did you just happen to know me and decided to check out my page? Or did Google mess up on your search for keyword “pulitzer?” Well, in any case, welcome to the site.  It’s a brand new year and this is the first update I am making for 2003.

Right now I got my hands full. I’m updating my tech site in spurts – small little installments until the big ones during the weekend. Some of the natives don’t like the taste of the new layout. Haha, I remember when the “classic” layout was being lambasted as being “too dark and too green” … oh well, you can’t please em all :)

Oh man, I’m so tired. Times like these I start wishing for those times when I was just surfing sites and playing games. *sigh*
